Sarah Pulvertaft studied in London and Sydney, graduating in 1988 from Sydney College of the Arts with a William Dobel Scholarship for innovation and a BA in Visual Arts. In 1995 Sarah established her workshop with a Clerkenwell Award from the Clerkenwell Green Association (Craft Central). She retains close links with Craft Central after moving her workshop out of London, to the Oxfordshire countryside in 2006. Under the name Sarah Pulvertaft, Sarah creates new collections of work each year.
She works in silver and 18ct gold , making jewellery for women and men which is crisp and modern, often with kinetic or enamelled elements. Her work has a distinctive purity and strength. Sarah has shown her work regularly at trade shows such as London Fashion Week, International Jewellery London, Top Drawer, and Clerkenwell Dressed.
She sells her work to shops and galleries in the UK, where stockists include: Liberty, EcOne and Lomas Gallery in London. Regional outlets include Arroyo Fine Jewellery, Jeremy Hoye and The Lighthouse in Glasgow.
Sarah has also exported her work extensively, selling in the US, Japan, Singapore, Norway and Switzerland, and she received an export award from The Mercers Company and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in 1999. She also undertakes commissions such a one from Bloomsbury Publishing to create a charm bracelet for JK Rowling in 2007, and work for artists including Turner Prize nominee Christine Borland and TP winner Simon Starling.
Sarah was a talent scout for NESTA during the launch year in 2003 of their Graduate Pioneer Programme and was a creative mentor for the Crafts Council’s Next Move Programme in June 2004.
Sarah’s work has been featured in magazines such as Harpers and Queen, Elle, Marie Claire, Loaded, Arena, GQ, ID, Retail Jeweller and Time Out.
